The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is now recruiting 19,791 Census Field Officers for the 2021 Census that will be held on 10 August 2021. The roles are short-term and available in all cities, towns and regional areas nationwide. The working hours are variable and will include weekdays, weekends and evenings. Field Officers are responsible for delivering Census instructions and forms and visiting households that have not yet responded. They promote Census participation and answer peoples’ questions as well as helping members of the public who need special support to complete the Census. Field Officers will earn $24.80 per hour (inclusive of 25% loading), plus superannuation. Field Officer employment contracts start from 13 July. Contract lengths vary from 2-3 months. Applicants for Census Field Officers must have experience or demonstrated knowledge in customer service or working with the public. You must also have access to a computer and mobile device with reliable internet connection, a current driver’s licence, and access to a registered and insured vehicle. You must have a safe and lockable area at your residence to store blank Census materials. If you are available to work variable hours for the period of the contract, including weekdays, weekends and evenings, view the applicant information kit and apply now.
